About We Ride Flanders
The day before the professionals race the Tour of Flanders, thousands of amateurs ride the same hills. The Flemish Ardennes are not high — nothing here climbs for more than a couple of minutes — but the hellingen come one after another, narrow, steep and paved with cobbles.
This loop starts and finishes in Oudenaarde and rides the hills in the order the sportive does: Wolvenberg and Molenberg early, Berendries and Valkenberg out east, then the wall of the Koppenberg, the Taaienberg, and the finale every fan knows — the long cobbled drag of the Oude Kwaremont and, straight after it, the short violent ramp of the Paterberg.
Held on the Saturday before the Tour of Flanders, in early spring, over several distances from Oudenaarde (and a long one from Antwerp). The organiser lists its 133 km course at about 1,700 m of climbing.
Why ride this route indoors?
- It is a ready-made session of short, maximal efforts with incomplete recovery — the hardest thing to make yourself do on a plan.
- Positioning and traffic decide these climbs outdoors. Indoors they are about power, and you get to find out how much you have on the tenth one.
- The gradients are real; the cobbles are left to your imagination — your trainer will thank you.

+What do I need to ride We Ride Flanders indoors?
A smart trainer or a power meter, and a browser. Cycloscape connects over Bluetooth or ANT+ from the browser, sets the resistance of a smart trainer to the real gradient, and turns the route’s GPX into a 3D world. There is nothing to install.
